One of the wonderful things about the winter holidays in Vancouver is that so many of our best attractions get in the seasonal spirit with special events. VanDusen Botanical Garden has the Festival of Lights, Stanley Park hasBright Nights, and the Vancouver Aquarium has Magic of the North, a special program of Christmas and holiday fun for the whole family.
The Vancouver Aquarium’s Magic of the North transforms the Aquarium into a winter wonderland. There the special, winter-themed exhibition of Canada’s Arctic Ocean, The Polar Express 4-D Experience—a 20-minute cinematic adventure combining the high-definition excitement of a 3-D film with amazing sensory effects—plus a chance to join Santa’s helpers with holiday crafts and carol sing-alongs.
Two extra special features of the Magic of the North are unique Christmas traditions that can’t be found anywhere else: the Christmas Tree switched on by the Aquarium’s electric eel and Scuba Claus, who swims on weekends starting November 27 and then daily from December 18 – 23.
Magic of the North is at the Vancouver Aquarium now through January 3, 2011.
